ABOUT US
My getting into the doggy world was a pure accident despite we have practically always had a dog since I was a child. Although I need to admit I was not able to teach all of those to sit :)
Around 2003 we wanted to take our labrador Áfonya (called Cranberry in Hungarian) to a gun dog ability test. We had no idea of what this was about and therefore a friend of mine made an appointment with Olivér Király who had a look at Áfonya and presented us a short show with his Bronco.

Perhaps this was the point where everything started. His dog’s work and their partnership impressed me so much that I happened to be in the field the very next day and was trying to make Áfonya steady :)
This was the time when I met Rita Kökény who then was selflessly coaching our development and so we could make a continuous progress. In 2005 I bought my first working lab Blackthorn Achenar from Rita’s first litter, called Adu („Trump Card” in Hungarian), as I had realised there was no other way for my development but to buy a competent dog. I believe I can not be grateful to Rita enough for having her support and letting me have such a dog like Adu.
We had our first success with Adu in our very first competition in Austria and being full of newly gained ethusiasm we entered in several more competitions from then on. Adu’s being an incredibly reliable dog provides me great confidence. I can count on him on each and every competition day even if I happen to have an off day. I believe he is my second coach, I have learnt a lot with and from him and we keep gaining lots of experience together. Many of you might be familiar with the book „The true story of the best dog I ever had ” from Rick Bass . I believe our story is very similar. Often I suppose I may never have a better dog than him. However early it might be to declare this it might not be far from the case.
Over the course of past couple of years Adu has been performing outstandingly. In countless Working Tests we have carried the day and been awarded the victory. In 2009 we won three Fiel Trials which made Adu an International Field Trial Champion.

In 2008 we were granted the opportunity of testing our skills in the team competition of Skinner’s Retriever Event in Highclere where this was the first time for a Hungarian team to have the chance to represent the country. We came in 5th as a team whilst Adu missed only 2 points to get the Top Dog Award. We have twice entered into the International Working Test, a team competition again, where we finished 5th.
Besides competitions and daily trainings I assist the Working Retriever Club of Hungary organise events and deliver trainings in the hope of getting more and more of you to like this activity.
